Are you there – where are you

Are you there – where are you

Whilst were were all working from home the question above was irrelevant as you were always at home with the first attempt at communication via Microsoft Teams. Now that we are blending locations between home and the office (and now holidays) this question starts to get a little more complex.

In an attempt to resolve this I have started using the Teams status message to tell anyone who is after me where I am. This image shows what I have set today and for anyone at NTU this clearly shows where in the world I am (not where’s Wally).

If you set this up properly then anyone who attempts to contact you via Teams or looks at your Teams profile will see this location. Yes I can hear the voices in my head saying ‘isn’t that what your calendar is for’, but that necessitates everyone starting with my calendar, which they don’t – except the people who spend all day looking at my calendar – which some people do!! (Get a life as mine isn’t that interesting)

Examples below (there’s nothing confidential in here ;o)

Looks like it might work.
