Our first trip in Dot
First things first – WE SURVIVED !!!
We have just been on our first (of hopefully many) trips in Dot our CamperVan and it was a huge success.
We were not quite sure where we wanted to go for our first trip but for some reason we chose Brecon Bacons / Malvern Hills. So we booked 2 nights at Moorhampton Caravan Club Site and 1 night in Tewkesbury Abbey Caravan Club Site just to get a feel for the whole experience. I know I can hear you say ‘isn’t that a bit of an expensive option’ but that’s the way its worked out. To make things a little bit different its also our 34th wedding anniversary weekend.
So Saturday afternoon, after watching the Forest game, we set off to Moorhampton. Journey down was uneventful but also different as the view from high up is much more interesting as you can see over fences and hedges in to peoples gardens and actually see the house behind the fence. You can also see all the people on their mobile phones whilst driving…..
We arrived at Moorhampton around 6pm as was allocated our pitch number, but first Fish and Chips supper. So off we popped to the local chippy and returned to the campsite to sit down for our first meal in Dot whilst watching the footie. The Moorhampton is a great site with extreemly clean facilities although mobile coverage is almost non-existant.
The next day we drove to Sugar Loaf hill where we parked up and had a fantastic view over Abergivenny and the Brecon Beacons. We walked to the top and nearly died due to exhaustion / lack of oxygen but it was well worth the pain. Finding somewhere to eat that night was impossible so we sat in Dot and ate Chilli and bread
We ended the day with a walk around Greater Malvern and a leisurely drive home.
Overall a HUGE success and a great holiday
